With a third COVID-19 wave soaring this spring in many EU countries, the engagement of patients in the living-lab phase has been more challenging than foreseen. We have thus decided to focus first on some critical activities such as those involving modules related to physical rehabilitation. The situation is, however, now quickly evolving, and the rhythm of recruitment of patients is seriously accelerating. The Living-Lab phase was initially supposed to end in May 2021 but it is clear that it has to be extended. All vCare partners are busy studying the best approach to cope with any delay while preserving a significant length of time for the evaluation phase. This could mean that, depending on the activities to be tested, for a number of patients the two phases could evolve in parallel.
