Digital Training Center for Minimally Invasive and Interventional Treatment
CieH's largest infrastructure investment of 2022–2024, with a budget of RON 22,159,226.05, dedicated to digitalising simulation-based medical training across at least 10 specialties: cardiology, internal medicine, gastroenterology, pulmonology, radiology, vascular surgery, urology, general surgery, gynaecology, paediatric surgery, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, and anaesthesia and intensive care.
The problem
Traditional training on real patients carries safety risks, wears down hospital equipment, and drives up costs for the health system.
What we do
The project funds the acquisition of state-of-the-art medical simulators — 23 in 2023 alone, plus advanced ultrasound and robotic-surgery simulators added in 2024 — and their integration into training programmes for students, master's and PhD candidates.
Impact
Through medical simulation, the project reduces the impact of traditional training on patient safety, protects hospital equipment, and prepares future doctors for the digital-era local and European labour market.
Results
As of 31 December 2025, the project was successfully completed: 376 workshops were organised for 7,592 students, involving 13 university disciplines across 6 study programmes. The results obtained during the pilot stage provide a solid foundation for expanding the use of medical simulation in the university's teaching activity.
