Student Scientific Circles — From Cardiology to Seven Specialties

A complementary-education programme coordinated by the Medical Simulation Core, launched in 2023 with the Cardiology Circle, in partnership with SCOMESSMB, and expanded in 2024 with six new circles — Obstetrics-Gynaecology, General Surgery, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Paediatrics and Orthopaedics.

The problem

Beyond the mandatory curriculum, students need structured spaces to deepen their interest in a specialty alongside peers and young doctors, through clinical activities, case presentations and "career café" sessions.

What we do

The Cardiology Circle, the first to be founded, organised 24 events with over 600 student participants, covering clinical cardiology, arrhythmology, cardiac imaging and interventional cardiology. Six new circles launched in 2024, and by 2025 the programme had grown to 22 constituted circles, 17 of them active, with over 3,800 annual participations.

Impact

The programme has become one of CieH's most active channels for complementary education, giving students a first structured contact with specialty research and practice before residency.
