RoMD-MedAI — Patient and Physician Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare
A project won through the UEFISCDI competition, coordinated by CieH in partnership with the National School of Public Health Management of the Republic of Moldova, dedicated to a strategic analysis of patient and physician perspectives on integrating artificial intelligence and medical-data processing into the healthcare systems of Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
The problem
Although artificial intelligence and medical-data analysis can significantly improve healthcare systems, there is currently little solid evidence on how physicians and patients in Romania and the Republic of Moldova perceive these technologies, or on the barriers to their adoption.
What we do
The team, with interdisciplinary expertise in clinical medicine, public health, sociology, health management, data security and e-Health, developed the project's research tools in 2025 — two questionnaires (for patients and for healthcare professionals) and a semi-structured interview guide —, pre-tested in Romania, and launched the project's official website.
Impact
The project will generate relevant evidence on the acceptance of, and barriers to, using artificial intelligence in healthcare, with potential impact on medical practice and health policy in both countries.
