Dear colleagues,
The Experimental Cardiology Group is organizing a new edition of the “Laboratory Techniques” workshop in English on 20.11.2024, starting at 18:30, for all students and resident doctors.
During the workshop, participants will acquire essential knowledge for their future careers in research through discussions about:
Safe Handling and Calibration of Instruments: Emphasize the proper techniques for using laboratory instruments (e.g., microscopes, centrifuges, pipettes) to ensure both accuracy and safety. This includes regular calibration, understanding instrument-specific guidelines, and maintaining equipment to prevent malfunctions that could compromise research integrity or cause accidents.
Proper Storage and Handling of Hazardous Substances: Provide guidance on safely handling and storing chemicals, biological materials, and radioactive substances. This includes using fume hoods, proper labeling, secure storage containers, and understanding the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for each substance to minimize exposure risks.
Waste Disposal and Containment Protocols: Outline the safe methods for disposing of chemical, biological, and sharps waste in the laboratory. Emphasize the importance of following institutional guidelines for waste segregation, using appropriate disposal containers, and decontaminating instruments to prevent cross-contamination or exposure to hazardous materials.
